What is stress?
Stress is the adverse reaction we have to excessive pressure, and often manifests due to our perception that we cannot deal with the 'problem at hand'. This will commonly lead to feelings of being ‘out of our depth’ or ‘at the end of our tether’.
In other words, stress has more to do with the way we look at a specific problem, rather than the actual problem itself. If we feel we can cope with the pressures and demands on our time, our abilities and our money then there’s no problem. If we can’t, we feel stressed.
So why is stress so bad?
In small amounts, it isn’t. But when we’re under stress for all or most of the time, that is when things can become too difficult to manage. And because our everyday lives have become increasingly stressful, this is an ever more common scenario.
Managing your stress is a skill like any other, and while it is always recommended that you initially seek the advice of your doctor if you are feeling unwell, sometimes we then just want to get on with helping ourselves without involving anyone else. So in this guide, you will learn how to perform the many techniques available that will help you beat stress on your own, and entirely naturally.
It is important to realize though that there is no 'quick fix' and it is going to take time. So implement as many things as you can, stick with them, and gradually you will get there.
